Andy says . . . Our bodies and minds are a complex and continuous flux of interactions between physical stresses, biochemical processes and emotional or energetic impulses. In addition, our daily interactions with the external world exert a constant influence on our body’s internal environment and our health.
According to the philosophies of Oriental medicine, good health comes from harmony and balance within our bodies, as well as in our relationships with the world around us. When all forces acting within and upon the body are in accord, health will naturally follow.
Given the complexity of the forces that govern our health and the stresses of modern living, it’s not surprising that occasionally we lose our balance and fall into states of ill health. Oriental medicine understands this process very well and its primary aim is the restoration of a healthy balance both internally and externally.
For this reason, when treating you with Acupuncture or Shiatsu, I view your condition within the context of your whole life. Your history, lifestyle, work environment, emotional state and diet may all suggest the reasons that your problem has arisen at this time in your life. A thorough examination of these factors during your first consultation aims to uncover the imbalances that are the underlying cause of your symptoms.
Your course of treatment can then be aimed at restoring a state of healthy balance, reducing the severity of your symptoms and speeding your recovery. Often, an important part of that treatment is the discussion of some simple lifestyle changes, so that together, we can create a plan that allows you to take an active role in your return to health.
People are often surprised by how different they feel following treatment. The changes are often deep and subtle, difficult to describe but they know something has changed for the better. They may feel more peaceful, energised or relaxed. This sense of well being often continues for some time, allowing them to cope more easily with situations that previously would have troubled them.
Sometimes they are impressed by the speed with which their symptoms subside. A headache, pain or stiffness may be reduced while they are still on the couch, at other times they may improve just a few hours after treatment.
Hormonal imbalances and irregularities in the immune system are often surprisingly responsive to treatment. For example, women are often delighted by how well menstrual problems respond to treatment and hay fever sufferers are pleased by the relief they can achieve.
My membership of the British Acupuncture Council, the UK’s governing body for professional, highly trained Acupuncturists, guarantees clients receive the highest standards of professional care, hygiene and safety during treatment.
Andy says …. A woman had been suffering with chronic cystitis and weak bladder for over a decade. Following the first treatment she experienced considerable relief with occasional mild recurrence. After a short course of further treatments and some simple dietary advice the condition fully subsided and has not returned over the five years since.
Another woman was receiving a course of chemotherapy for breast cancer. With regular acupuncture treatment she was able to complete the entire course with only minimal tiredness and slight nausea on the day after each chemo session. She said that her nurses at the hospital were amazed at how well she coped with the treatment.

Coaches Training Institute (CPPC, Balance, Fulfillment, and Process Workshops)
Empowerment comes from awareness, responsibility, and action based on that awareness and responsibility. I believe that we can all realize our greater potential by using techniques to raise our levels of mindfulness through meditation.
Body, mind and spirit are interdependent and one area isn’t likely to be healthy without attending to the others. I believe that spirit is neglected in the modern world. Attending to our spirit is the pathway to faithfulness to our values and beliefs.
To align our actions and thoughts with our spiritual beliefs, we must first be aware of those beliefs. Spiritual Coaching helps you uncover your beliefs, values and purpose and start living a life that is full of meaning and direction.
- Apathy
- Distraction
- Loss of direction in life
- Low awareness
- Mental imbalance
'Denise has a way of relaxing people that makes you slow down and enable you to think clearly and become calmer so enabling you to think more clearly about life and give you the tools to move forward and be learn to do that for yourself as I did whilst practising mediation techniques with Denise.’
'I had done some meditation beforehand but in larger groups and it was one specific type, practice with Denise opened my eyes to the different types of Mediation, different ways of practicing and the different energy that they can produce and increased my understanding of the more spiritual side of mediation too from calming, relaxing through to a deeper more spiritual level enabling me to deal with grief to becoming positive again and then looking forward.'
'Denise has the ability to empower people rather than just helping, sometimes without you even realising (until later) that it was the case.'

Galvanic Spa II, Holistic Skincare including Makeup Lessons & Makeovers, Reiki, Indian Head Massage, Facial Massage,
Reflexology and Thermal Auricular Therapy (Ear Candling)
Gillian is a highly trained therapist in beauty, skincare and massage and a member of both the International Council of Holistic Therapists and the Guild of Holistic Therapists. She also provides treatments including ear candling to help stress headaches, ear and sinus related conditions.
- Low energy
- Depression
- Emotional unrest
- Headaches
- Bowel disorders
- Eczema
Stress and tension, dry skin, ear wax and feelings of low self-esteem
Gillian says …. My interest in health and wellbeing started with an early career in traditional medical support and in clinical research. I recognise the value of integrated and complementary practice and feel that a holistic approach to managing health, nutrition and beauty issues is paramount for overall good health and increased morale.
During consultation, clients often find that they have hidden emotional issues which have affected their physical health. They are surprised that a course of therapy, followed by a maintenance programme, can ease these issues and clear the way forward for a brighter future.
As a huge advocate of drinking aloe vera myself, I advise others to promote a daily healthy lifestyle. Clients find that aloe vera can improve an illness or injury, aid physical mobility, increase energy levels, boost the immune system, alleviate IBS, improve skin conditions, ease stress levels and increase feelings of calm and elation.
Gillian says …. 1. An older gentleman, who had suffered many years of ear wax issues and occasional tinnitus (he had previously had painful ear syringing and been advised this was not a regular option). He was suffering with continual daily ear discomfort which increased on holiday flights with the air pressure changes.
Despite being initially very sceptical of thermal auricular therapy (ear candling), he came initially for a couple of treatments ‘just to see how it worked’. On the second treatment, a huge amount of wax was shifted and he was amazed at how much easier his ears felt and after another couple of treatments his tinnitus had completely gone!
He now has regular treatments every 4-6 weeks, to fit around his many holidays, with great success for his ears and relaxation levels.
Gillian says …. 2. A mother, recently having given birth to her daughter, was feeling low with post natal depression. Her partner contacted me for advice and was sure she would love a makeup lesson.
She arrived for her lesson with trepidation, as she usually did not wear makeup and had no prior knowledge of its correct application but so wanted a boost! I relaxed her with a consultation and she felt at ease knowing that her lesson was with natural products and that my advice, on this occasion, was for ‘day-time’ makeup.
I showed her every stage of application, choosing her most suitable colours and keeping it simple to follow so that she could apply her makeup in the correct manner later - she was also interested to know how to tweak it for a subtle evening look.
She loved her new image, thought the aloe vera makeup was fabulous and went home with a beaming smile!

Even in children there can often be a trigger eg a traumatic birth or anxiety starting school.
“I was diagnosed with ulcerative colitis and advised by my specialist to have a colostomy.I was horrified by this, so I decided to try Homoeopathy. I made an amazing recovery after just a few weeks and never needed the operation.”
“My seven year old daughter had been suffering with chronic tonsillitis since she was two years old. She was on the waiting list to have her tonsils out when we went to see Helen to try Homoeopathy. Since then she has no longer suffered with tonsillitis, has not had her tonsils removed and is 100% better. My whole family now see Helen when we need to”
“Helen has completely changed my life. I am stunned by the power of positive thinking. I first saw Helen 4 years ago when I was 19, and in the space of 1 year I went from a miserable and unconfident hotel waiter to happy company director ending my first year in business with sustainable profit in the bank at the age of 20, so well worth the price of sessions, to not go to Helen is a false economy. I have found it important to have regular sessions and life gets better and better, amazing!”
Helen says . . . A woman with profuse heavy bleeding menstrual cycle with only a few days respite in a month. It was difficult for her to go out without flooding. The problem had been going on for a while (months). To my surprise her first period after the 1st remedy was normal and she has continued to maintain that.
. . . A man with a very large kidney stone was booked in for an operation asked if Homoeopathy could do anything to help. Just 24 hours after starting the tincture he passed a very large stone without any pain (he has kept it to show!)

- Muscle and joint pain
- Sports related injuries
- Shin splints
- Stress related tension causing headaches, stiff neck and shoulders, lower back pain.
- Overuse injuries (tennis and golfers elbow)
- Anxiety, sadness
Lisa says . . . My experience as a Therapist has led me to see the complete connection between mind, body and soul and if there is an imbalance, how this can manifest itself in physical symptoms. I wanted to treat my clients more holistically so I trained as a LaStone Therapist. This compliments Sports Therapy and Sports Massage wonderfully.
Dr Robin Marshall DC MSc BSc BSc says . . . “ Being a doctor of chiropractic I’ve been lucky enough to experience many different forms of massage, physical and manual therapy and moreover lucky enough to be in the privileged opinion of being able to say what really helps. Lisa’s Deep Stone therapy was a deeply relaxing journey; she was able to exactly target the areas of tension in my muscles and joints. Through her use of heat and cold, deeper relaxation was possible without the effects of post treatment soreness. Until now I believed the best tool for manipulating muscle was the human hand, however, certain fascial planes and distortions felt better addressed with her huge range of smooth tooled stones that glided better, worked on the whole of the tissue and were consistently strong (when desired) and never tired.
The added element of appropriately applied heat or cold allowed for reflex relaxations releasing tension and flushing sore or tight tissues with healing blood. The potential of this form of therapy has yet to be fully realised by the manual and medical professions.
In addition Lisa also had stones supporting and heating my spinal joints throughout part of the 60 minute duration of the treatment which had more advantages than I can list in this short testimonial, but certainly added to the holistic approach of the treatment.
Finally, I must say although I am extremely critical of many energy based treatments and “alternative medicine” I have to admit I did leave with an uplifted sense of well being and increased energy. I will certainly return.”

CHIROPRACTIC McTIMONEY
|
|
Chiropractic is an integrated, holistic and drug-free approach to health. Assessment includes discussing your lifestyle, body use and other factors that may be affecting your health.
Treatment involves the chiropractor using their hands to detect and adjust areas of the body. The McTimoney chiropractic treatment is a gentle, whole body approach centred on the use of light-force, but swift and precise adjustments.
Advice is also given on how to look after yourself after treatment and how to help reduce the chance of having issues in the future.
- Backache and back pain
- Neck pain
- Muscular aches
- Pain, discomfort and stiffness in joints
Some patients also seek help for other complaints and use chiropractic care for continued good functioning and wellness.
Phil says “Often people suffer in silence and try to live with back pain and other problems, or they take pills that mask the pain but don’t seem to solve the problem. Many patients are drawn to McTimoney chiropractic because of its whole body approach and emphasis on using relatively gentle, but fast and precise adjustments.”
BSc (Hons) Chiropractic
Member of the McTimoney Chiropractic Association
Regulated by and registered with the General Chiropractic Council
Phil trained for over 5 years at the McTimoney College of Chiropractic in Abingdon, having previously gained over 20 years of commercial experience in the IT and science fields. Phil moved from a senior role working on IT systems to chiropractic, to apply himself to the most elegant system of all – the human body.
Phil has witnessed the damaging effects that stress, sedentary jobs, poor posture and other bad habits have on so many people.
Phil says “I was helped greatly by chiropractic treatment and I was drawn to chiropractic because I wanted to be able to offer help in allowing others to regain control of their bodies, and hence their lives”.
In a similar vein, Phil is also currently doing an assignment for a charity, helping people to cope with stress at work.
“I went in with aches & pains but came out feeling so much better. My posture was better; I was walking more upright in fact I felt taller!!”.
“Phil is a professional who really cares about the work he does & makes you feel comfortable, relaxed and gives good advice.”
C.L. Employment Advisor
“Thank you for the time and care given to me during my recent treatments.”
“The time spent talking about my past medical history and the thorough examination prior to my treatment gave me the reassurance to go ahead with any treatment that you felt necessary to eradicate the pain in my shoulder and lower back”.

- Neck and Joint Pain and Stiffness, Whiplash.
- Headache, Migraine
- Arthritis
- Back Pain
- Digestive problems
- Stress induced conditions
Depression & anxiety, IBS, Cystitis, Menstrual Problems, Asthma, Sports Injuries.
Robin says . . . I developed an interest in acupressure healing in my twenties. At the time I was training in various styles of Karate, but was also looking for something more “internal” and “softer” such as Tai-Ji and Qi-Gong. It was at this time that I was lent a book on acupressure points, and my interest in this form of healing began to develop. Some years later, a friend in my Tai-Ji class in Swindon, showed me a leaflet advertising The European Shiatsu School in Marlborough, run by Chris Jarmey.
I was immediately drawn to Shiatsu as a therapy because its “hands on” approach seemed a very intuitive and natural way of treating illness and injury. It was also non-intrusive and gentle. As a result of my interest I soon signed up for a course in Marlborough. After completing my course at the Shiatsu School, I treated clients on a part-time basis before becoming a self-employed Shiatsu Therapist in April 2004.
Shiatsu works by balancing a persons’ energy or “Qi”. Once set in motion by a treatment, it can take up to 48 hours for the energy to find its balance. However, after this time, people may find that they sleep better and have more energy. Any specific conditions addressed (headache, backache, stress etc) may also have their effects reduced.
Shiatsu is a safe and gentle form of preventative and remedial massage based on the Acupuncture meridians. No needles or oils are used, finger and thumb pressure only. However Moxa and Cupping are used where applicable. It can treat a wide range of conditions from specific injuries to more general symptoms of poor health. Shiatsu is a deeply relaxing experience and regular sessions help prevent the build up of stress in our daily lives.
The treatment is normally given on a mattress or “Futon” which rests on the floor, although it is also possible to be treated kneeling or sitting. For those people who are unable to lay or kneel on the floor I have a message couch available. I would encourage clients to wear loose cotton clothing, preferably a T-shirt and jogging bottoms and socks. Please avoid eating before treatment, as I may need to put pressure on your back or stomach. After the session, clients should not drink alcohol or engage in strenuous exercise. However they should drink plenty of water. Each full Shiatsu session lasts approximately an hour, and currently cost £40.
Robin says …. A lady came to me after having been treated for Lymph Cancer. As a result of her treatment she had reduced mobility in her right arm and hardly any feeling in the fingers of that hand. She was also very tired and unable to resume her previous active life. Her doctors told her that she would never regain the mobility or the feeling in her fingers. However, after a course of treatment she regained the mobility in her arm and the feeling in her fingers. She also had more energy and was able to resume her exercise program
“Thank you Robin your treatment was amazing, I felt so much better afterwards and have continued to do so.I hadn’t realised how low my energy had become but now I feel more like my old self again”
