Andy says . . . Our bodies and minds are a complex and continuous flux of interactions between physical stresses, biochemical processes and emotional or energetic impulses. In addition, our daily interactions with the external world exert a constant influence on our body’s internal environment and our health.
According to the philosophies of Oriental medicine, good health comes from harmony and balance within our bodies, as well as in our relationships with the world around us. When all forces acting within and upon the body are in accord, health will naturally follow.
Given the complexity of the forces that govern our health and the stresses of modern living, it’s not surprising that occasionally we lose our balance and fall into states of ill health. Oriental medicine understands this process very well and its primary aim is the restoration of a healthy balance both internally and externally.
For this reason, when treating you with Acupuncture or Shiatsu, I view your condition within the context of your whole life. Your history, lifestyle, work environment, emotional state and diet may all suggest the reasons that your problem has arisen at this time in your life. A thorough examination of these factors during your first consultation aims to uncover the imbalances that are the underlying cause of your symptoms.
Your course of treatment can then be aimed at restoring a state of healthy balance, reducing the severity of your symptoms and speeding your recovery. Often, an important part of that treatment is the discussion of some simple lifestyle changes, so that together, we can create a plan that allows you to take an active role in your return to health.
People are often surprised by how different they feel following treatment. The changes are often deep and subtle, difficult to describe but they know something has changed for the better. They may feel more peaceful, energised or relaxed. This sense of well being often continues for some time, allowing them to cope more easily with situations that previously would have troubled them.
Sometimes they are impressed by the speed with which their symptoms subside. A headache, pain or stiffness may be reduced while they are still on the couch, at other times they may improve just a few hours after treatment.
Hormonal imbalances and irregularities in the immune system are often surprisingly responsive to treatment. For example, women are often delighted by how well menstrual problems respond to treatment and hay fever sufferers are pleased by the relief they can achieve.
My membership of the British Acupuncture Council, the UK’s governing body for professional, highly trained Acupuncturists, guarantees clients receive the highest standards of professional care, hygiene and safety during treatment.
Andy says …. A woman had been suffering with chronic cystitis and weak bladder for over a decade. Following the first treatment she experienced considerable relief with occasional mild recurrence. After a short course of further treatments and some simple dietary advice the condition fully subsided and has not returned over the five years since.
Another woman was receiving a course of chemotherapy for breast cancer. With regular acupuncture treatment she was able to complete the entire course with only minimal tiredness and slight nausea on the day after each chemo session. She said that her nurses at the hospital were amazed at how well she coped with the treatment.

Bronwyn says . . . I work with a holistic approach. I treat the person as a whole and nurture all aspects of mental and physical health. I believe we are all capable of healing ourselves, and can be more involved in taking care of our own health issues. I really enjoy helping people and educating clients about natural alternatives and healthy lifestyle approaches.
"After just two sessions of reflexology I felt calmer. I can’t put my finger on what exactly has changed, but I sleep better, I smile more, and my highly stressful job seems much easier to cope with and let go of at the end of the day".
"I don’t know why I put up with tension headaches and poor sleep for so long. My monthly aromatherapy and reflexology with Bronwyn have become a part of my monthly budget, a well earned necessity, rather than an extravagance".
I had a couple who were trying to conceive and were getting to the stage of beginning IVF. After just 3 months of regular massage and reflexology, they fell pregnant. I worked with them both throughout the pregnancy and after the arrival of their healthy baby.
A man who had chronic neck pain for years started to come for aromatherapy massage, after just a few sessions his pain began to disappear and his mobility and strength improved and continues to improve with each treatment.

Gail says . . . I offer nutritional therapies based on both clinical and naturopathic nutrition as well as Advanced Profile Health Screening - with proven accuracy and reproducible in clinical trials. This health screening system identifies the core issue and root cause rather than just suggesting how to treat symptoms and covers the whole body.
Katherine Brooke, Colonic Therapist….
I am implementing the new dietary changes relatively successfully. I never before realised that I suffer from bloating!! Amazing health system. I feel brighter, more energetic, more determined, my eyes aren't so dry and my arthritic joints whilst still painful are much more mobile. I am really excited about how good I could begin to feel so thanks so much for that. I am taking all the supplements/tablets that you recommended. I will highly recommend this screening to my clients."
Michelle Nash, Reflexologist….
"Having struggled for several months and getting nowhere with my teenage daughter's health, a friend suggested we have a BioImpedance Assessment. Despite not knowing what it was (!) as it was non-invasive, we were willing to try. After only one visit, my daughter was a different person and I have done nothing but recommend it to all since! Thank you."
Kevin Woolnough, Tri-Athlete…
"I am delighted with today's health assessment results and after only three visits! It is great to actually see how your body has improved. Thank you for making it happen and for your time and encouragement."
Case Study 1: Female 43, suffering from constipation, IBS, excess weight around middle and overall very sluggish. Experiencing low energy and mood swings. With a review of diet, a two week detox plan and support specifically for her gall bladder, bowels were opening 1-2 times daily, no bloatedness, good energy and began losing weight.
Case Study 2: Female, 38, suffering from heavy menses with monthly cramps, and extremely tired. Experiencing food cravings and mood swings. With a review of diet, support specifically for her liver and hormonal support, subsequent periods were less painful, lighter and with minimal cramps (eventually no cramps at all). Food cravings and mood swings were eradicated and energy increased.

Galvanic Spa II, Holistic Skincare including Makeup Lessons & Makeovers, Reiki, Indian Head Massage, Facial Massage,
Reflexology and Thermal Auricular Therapy (Ear Candling)
Gillian is a highly trained therapist in beauty, skincare and massage and a member of both the International Council of Holistic Therapists and the Guild of Holistic Therapists. She also provides treatments including ear candling to help stress headaches, ear and sinus related conditions.
- Low energy
- Depression
- Emotional unrest
- Headaches
- Bowel disorders
- Eczema
Stress and tension, dry skin, ear wax and feelings of low self-esteem
Gillian says …. My interest in health and wellbeing started with an early career in traditional medical support and in clinical research. I recognise the value of integrated and complementary practice and feel that a holistic approach to managing health, nutrition and beauty issues is paramount for overall good health and increased morale.
During consultation, clients often find that they have hidden emotional issues which have affected their physical health. They are surprised that a course of therapy, followed by a maintenance programme, can ease these issues and clear the way forward for a brighter future.
As a huge advocate of drinking aloe vera myself, I advise others to promote a daily healthy lifestyle. Clients find that aloe vera can improve an illness or injury, aid physical mobility, increase energy levels, boost the immune system, alleviate IBS, improve skin conditions, ease stress levels and increase feelings of calm and elation.
Gillian says …. 1. An older gentleman, who had suffered many years of ear wax issues and occasional tinnitus (he had previously had painful ear syringing and been advised this was not a regular option). He was suffering with continual daily ear discomfort which increased on holiday flights with the air pressure changes.
Despite being initially very sceptical of thermal auricular therapy (ear candling), he came initially for a couple of treatments ‘just to see how it worked’. On the second treatment, a huge amount of wax was shifted and he was amazed at how much easier his ears felt and after another couple of treatments his tinnitus had completely gone!
He now has regular treatments every 4-6 weeks, to fit around his many holidays, with great success for his ears and relaxation levels.
Gillian says …. 2. A mother, recently having given birth to her daughter, was feeling low with post natal depression. Her partner contacted me for advice and was sure she would love a makeup lesson.
She arrived for her lesson with trepidation, as she usually did not wear makeup and had no prior knowledge of its correct application but so wanted a boost! I relaxed her with a consultation and she felt at ease knowing that her lesson was with natural products and that my advice, on this occasion, was for ‘day-time’ makeup.
I showed her every stage of application, choosing her most suitable colours and keeping it simple to follow so that she could apply her makeup in the correct manner later - she was also interested to know how to tweak it for a subtle evening look.
She loved her new image, thought the aloe vera makeup was fabulous and went home with a beaming smile!

- Falls/injuries
- Traumas
Emotional disorders, excema and childhood diseases such as chicken pox
Babies - colic, teething problems, colds, ear infections, sleep disorders.
Mothers - Post Natal Depression, mastitis, remedies for labour and for recovery.
Helen says . . . I take into account all aspects of a person’s life and always look for a possible cause.
Even in children there can often be a trigger eg a traumatic birth or anxiety starting school.
“I was diagnosed with ulcerative colitis and advised by my specialist to have a colostomy.I was horrified by this, so I decided to try Homoeopathy. I made an amazing recovery after just a few weeks and never needed the operation.”
“My seven year old daughter had been suffering with chronic tonsillitis since she was two years old. She was on the waiting list to have her tonsils out when we went to see Helen to try Homoeopathy. Since then she has no longer suffered with tonsillitis, has not had her tonsils removed and is 100% better. My whole family now see Helen when we need to”
“Helen has completely changed my life. I am stunned by the power of positive thinking. I first saw Helen 4 years ago when I was 19, and in the space of 1 year I went from a miserable and unconfident hotel waiter to happy company director ending my first year in business with sustainable profit in the bank at the age of 20, so well worth the price of sessions, to not go to Helen is a false economy. I have found it important to have regular sessions and life gets better and better, amazing!”
Helen says . . . A woman with profuse heavy bleeding menstrual cycle with only a few days respite in a month. It was difficult for her to go out without flooding. The problem had been going on for a while (months). To my surprise her first period after the 1st remedy was normal and she has continued to maintain that.
. . . A man with a very large kidney stone was booked in for an operation asked if Homoeopathy could do anything to help. Just 24 hours after starting the tincture he passed a very large stone without any pain (he has kept it to show!)

Chiropodist / Podiatrist
Over the years I’ve seen and successfully treated a wide range of foot conditions. While I enjoy treating all foot problems, I am especially interested in diabetic foot care, and biomechanics, and use an R.S. Scan system to help me to diagnose and treat biomechanical foot problems. This involves my patient simply walking over a plate covered in small sensors which allow accurate analysis of pressure deviations under all regions of the foot. This is necessary to get a clear picture of foot mechanics, and can be vital when dealing with medical conditions such as diabetes.
This is a picture of a foot scan taken using the R.S.Scan system.
The colours represent pressures under the foot, red being
high, and green low pressure. The small red dots indicate the
centre of pressure line through the foot.
All of this information is interpreted by a computer program,
and suggestions for corrective orthoses (such as that pictured
below) are made based on the data gathered from walking over
the R.S.Scan plate a number of times. |
 |
Joanna says,
I aim to create a friendly atmosphere for my patients, where we can select a course of treatment together, as I believe that successful treatment depends on a partnership with my patients.
I also aim to educate and empower people to have the confidence to look after their own feet, if that’s possible, and to understand how they can improve their own foot health.
Podiatry covers treatment of a wide range of conditions of the foot, ankle and lower limb as well as the commonly known treatment of toenail and skin disorders. Pain in the hips and back for instance can be caused by problems with the feet, while people with diabetes can suffer loss of sensation or poor circulation in the feet which could then lead to damage or injury.
A podiatrist will use specialist skills to treat minor infections like ulcers and wounds and they will perform minor foot surgery to remove corns and calluses, or to cut out ingrown toenails. A podiatrist will also use corrective methods such as orthotics to make walking easier for a patient or to help realign posture that may be the cause of problems in the hips or back.
Podiatry has also extended to bone, joint and soft tissue surgery that includes removal of bunions and the correction of toe deformity and ankle instability. This is usually carried out by a specialist podiatric surgeon. Outside of clinical practice, a podiatrist will also help promote foot health through advice and education in the public sector, particularly among the elderly.
‘Foot care, or podiatry, was first used by the ancient Egyptian civilisations and later by Hippocrates who educated students in ancient Greece about removal of corns and calluses to promote health. Records also show Napoleon and the King of France using a podiatrist.
Originally, the therapy was referred to as chiropody and dealt primarily with the treatment of corns and warts on the foot. Chiropodist Lewis Durlacher was the first to recognise the need for a licensed profession and the first chiropody society was founded in New York in 1895.
Podiatry is regulated and the title podiatrist/chiropodist is protected, so a practitioner must be registered with the Health Professions Council (HPC) otherwise they are breaking the law.
Podiatrists in the private sector will be members of The Society of Chiropodists and Podiatrists and this organisation represents over 8,000 members who are trained to high standards and abide by a code of ethics and practice. Members will have either M.Ch.S. or F.Ch.S. after their name. Some podiatrists/chiropodists are members of the Institute of Chiropodists and Podiatrists and will have M.Inst.Ch.P after their name.’
(www.gotosee.co.uk)
In the UK the terms Chiropodist and Podiatrist are interchangeable and indicate identical levels of training & expertise.

Sports Therapy, Sports, Remedial and Therapeutic Massage, LaStone Therapy, Deep Stone Therapy
- Muscle and joint pain
- Sports related injuries
- Shin splints
- Stress related tension causing headaches, stiff neck and shoulders, lower back pain.
- Overuse injuries (tennis and golfers elbow)
- Anxiety, sadness
Lisa says . . . My experience as a Therapist has led me to see the complete connection between mind, body and soul and if there is an imbalance, how this can manifest itself in physical symptoms. I wanted to treat my clients more holistically so I trained as a LaStone Therapist. This compliments Sports Therapy and Sports Massage wonderfully.
Dr Robin Marshall DC MSc BSc BSc says . . . “ Being a doctor of chiropractic I’ve been lucky enough to experience many different forms of massage, physical and manual therapy and moreover lucky enough to be in the privileged opinion of being able to say what really helps. Lisa’s Deep Stone therapy was a deeply relaxing journey; she was able to exactly target the areas of tension in my muscles and joints. Through her use of heat and cold, deeper relaxation was possible without the effects of post treatment soreness. Until now I believed the best tool for manipulating muscle was the human hand, however, certain fascial planes and distortions felt better addressed with her huge range of smooth tooled stones that glided better, worked on the whole of the tissue and were consistently strong (when desired) and never tired.
The added element of appropriately applied heat or cold allowed for reflex relaxations releasing tension and flushing sore or tight tissues with healing blood. The potential of this form of therapy has yet to be fully realised by the manual and medical professions.
In addition Lisa also had stones supporting and heating my spinal joints throughout part of the 60 minute duration of the treatment which had more advantages than I can list in this short testimonial, but certainly added to the holistic approach of the treatment.
Finally, I must say although I am extremely critical of many energy based treatments and “alternative medicine” I have to admit I did leave with an uplifted sense of well being and increased energy. I will certainly return.”
